At NAFEM, Visitors Get A Taste Of the New SPG

SPG Grill

This replica of a working restaurant is completely outfitted with equipment from SPG's six major product lines: AMCO, ISS, ISS Contender, Freestyle, Universal Stainless and Kelmax.

Expect More. That was the statement that SPG made to the foodservice industry when the business was taken private just a few months ago. Those attending NAFEM got a sense of just how new, different and innovative SPG is when they stopped by The SPG Grill, a replica of a working restaurant completely outfitted with the company's equipment.

From the shrubbery graphics and neon sign on the restaurant exterior to the use of tile floors and props inside, it was attention to detail that helped recreate the authentic diner atmosphere. In fact, the SPG Grill was not only equipped with a real bar and dining booth, but everything from the burgers on the counter to the bread in the pan provided visitors with a real diner experience. Even the product literature was designed to look like the prototypical menu. But, of course, the real focus of the display was our products.

The menu consisted of more than 50 items manufactured by the company. Items from each of SPG’s six major product lines were represented throughout the restaurant, including drive-thru, food prep, bar, bakery, freezer-cooler, dry storage, dish area — and even the loading dock.

“This is truly a unique and effective way to display all we have to offer,” said Steve Darnell, President and CEO of SPG. “It captures the essence of a real foodservice operation, attracts attention on the showroom floor and demonstrates SPG’s total solution capabilities through the breadth of products we make. And it does it in an environment that everyone in the industry can relate to.”

Darnell said that visitors were surprised by the array of products SPG makes — and he emphasizes that the company could only display a tiny fraction of the thousands of items it makes. Even more importantly, both the signage and SPG representatives at the display emphasized that any item could be made to order to meet the specific needs of any operation.

There was a steady stream of visitors to the SPG Grill — and all were visibly impressed with all that went into the project, and the short order in which it was accomplished. Of course, when it comes to any foodservice order, you can count on SPG for fresh ideas, superior products, attentive service and fast delivery. So the next time you have an order, be sure to call SPG.
