SPG Leadership

Steven E. Darnell | President & CEO

Steve came to SPG after serving as a Group President with Leggett & Platt, Inc. Under Steve’s leadership, the Storage Products Group became a key profit contributor to the corporation and a market leader in the industry. Steve led the efforts to form the now independent SPG.

Steve brings the organization more than 25 years of progressive management and leadership experience in both domestic and international operations, working in industrial and consumer product companies. Among the companies he has served are Allegheny International, Gulf Oil, Frito Lay, and Atlantech International.

As a management professional with a quarter of a century of progressive P&L experience, Steve is a self-motivated leader who believes in building strong, effective management teams — a strategy he developed by employing his experience as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. As President/CEO, Steve brings our organization the skills of a successful problem-solver committed to building excellent communication among employees, our sales network and end-users.

By placing the highest value on the need for improved bottom line profitability through careful analysis, detailed strategic planning, and flawless execution, Steve is dedicated to the long-term growth and market dominance of SPG.

Steve received his B.S. from John Carroll University and an M.B.A. from Webster University.

Mark Lee | VP of Commercial Marketing

Mark Lee serves as Vice President of Commercial Marketing. In this role, Mark is responsible for all strategic, operational and administrative elements of SPG International’s Marketing, Demand Planning, & Pricing/Sales Estimating organizations. He brings more than 30 years’ experience in developing strategies, tactics, and marketing capabilities that drive revenue across global operations. Prior to SPG, Mark served with large multinational corporations, such as The Coca-Cola Company, Coors Brewing Company, Wise Snacks, and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

Mark earned a B.S. degree in Business Management from Colorado State University and is a certified Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, specializing in commercial sales and marketing operations.

Jim Mitchell | VP of Operations

Jim Mitchell serves as Vice President of Operations. In this role, Jim is responsible for all strategic, operational and administrative elements of SPG International’s Global Supply Chain, Customer Service and Continuous Improvement Organizations. He brings to the organization more than 30 years’ experience in Operations, Global Supply Chain, Business Development, Program Management, Risk Management and Continuous Improvement with large multinational corporations.

Jim earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and a M.S. degree in Contracts and Acquisition Management from Florida Institute of Technology.

Cheryl Mullen | VP of Business Development

Cheryl joined the SPG team at its inception after a long, successful tenure at Leggett & Platt culminating as Group Controller. She served on the SPG Leadership Team in a variety of accounting and finance roles before transitioning to the sales area as Vice President of Business Development for the Industrial segment. In this position, Cheryl is able to leverage her strong analytical skills to provide strategic customer solutions and maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Cheryl received her B.S. from Columbia College and Masters of Accounting and Finance from Devry University.

Derick Pelser | VP of Information Services

Derick serves as Vice President of Information Services. Derick brings the organization more than 20 years of experience managing and implementing ERP and Information Systems within distribution and manufacturing companies. Among the companies he has served is ZF.

Kimberly Withka | Director of Administration

Kimberly serves as Director of Administration. She is a forensic accountant/CPA and an attorney who brings the organization more than 25 years of progressive accounting, legal, engineering and management leadership in both domestic and international operations. She has worked in engineering, accounting and financial operations, and corporate headquarters as a CFO. Among the companies she has served are IBM, Philip Morris/Kraft, Gartner Group, Box USA and the United Methodist Church.

Kimberly has a B.S. from Georgia Institute of Technology, and M.B.A and PhD. from Duke, and a PhD. from Yale University.

Kathleen Kenney | Chief Accounting Officer

Kathleen serves as the Chief Accounting Officer of SPG International. Kathleen brings the organization more than 17 years of experience as a CAO /Controller in the aerospace, medical device, furniture, biomass, and food sectors.  Kathleen has previously served in financial leadership roles for manufacturing companies in the Atlanta area, including Curtis Dyna-Fog, American Process, Inc, and PCC Airfoils, LLC among others.  Kathleen joined SPG in the summer of 2019.

Kathleen received her B.A. in Accounting from Avila University in Kansas City, MO and is awaiting licensure as Certified Public Accountant in the State of Georgia.
